Background

A true "Islander", Alex was born in the Canary Islands (Spain) and has been sailing since the age of 14.

With many miles, ocean passages, and professional experiences under his belt, he is a man of many talents. He worked excursion boats in the Canaries, sailed the Baltic, Mediterranean, taken several Atlantic crossings, and circumnavigated, 2013-15—accumulating 50,000 sea miles. He also spent 8 years as a mechanic in power plants working on engines up to 28,000 hp.

  • Officer engineering on merchant ships.
  • Professional captain of coast in Spain.
  • RYA Yachtmaster offshore.
  • Shorebased course RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Ocean.
  • Qualified in accordance with the provisions of the international convention on standards of trainings, certification and watch keeping for seafarers 1978 and STCW code and has been found competent as:
  • Medical care on board.
  • General operator global maritime distress and safety system (cog).
  • Survival craft and rescue boats other than fast rescue boats.
  • Familiarization and basic safety training.
  • Special course of survival at sea first level.
